On December 15, 2006 Tom McManamon passed away after a long battle with illness. Tommy ( aka "The Beast" ) was the
heart of Shane's band "the Popes". Our Condolences to his Family and Friends.

Ass-Kickin in Asagiri
"THE POGUES" hit Asagiri - Jam like a Tsunami on Saki.
In the shadow of Mount Fuji tremors were felt that registered on the richter scale in Tokyo, the snowy cap on Japan's
highest peak melted, tunes were belted and Samurai swordsmen were seen to bow in homage.

Irish Music Personality Award.
Shane recently recieved this years "Irish Music personality" Award at "The Irish Post's" 2006 Awards.
A star studded event held in Picadilly was also attended by other reciepients including Ardal O'Hanlon (Comedy) of "Father
Ted", DJ Carey (Sports),Mary Black (Hall of Fame) and Triniti scooped the "Music newcomer" Award. More info

Shane signed a Caricature Painting of himself that is being put on Auction at "The Four Seasons" Hotel to raise
funds for the worthy Charity. DEBRA
Epidermolysis Bullosa -EB- is a distressing and painful genetic skin disorder causng skin layers and body linings to separate
and blister at the slightest touch. Children born with EB have skin that is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly - and as
easily damaged.

Lifetime Achievement Award For The Pogues
"The Pogues" were presented with a "Lifetime Achievement Award" at this year's Meteor Ireland Music Awards
on Thusday February 2nd.
The celebrity studded show took place at The Point Theatre Dublin and the nights events were broadcast on RTE 2 at 9pm
on Sunday the 5th of February.
Also performing at the show were Damien Dempsey,The Darkness,Westlife,Jamie Cullen, BellX1 and Republic of Loose.
The Pogues performed a Brilliant version of "The Irish Rover" accompanied by the legend Ronnie Drew and t "The
Dubliners". They closed the show down and left a delighted audience howling for more.

Jimmy Johnstone, Celtic's greatest ever player has died at the age of 61 after a long battle with motor neurone disease.
The Lisbon Lion, who had been fighting the ravages of Motor Neurone Disease for more than four years, was 61.

" THE POGUES " staged a fantastic finale to the Meteor Music Awards Ireland. After performing a duet with the
Dubliners "The Irish Rover" and having been recognised for their iconic status within Irish Music by being presented
with a Lifetime achievement award.
In an era of well-behaved, pop and rock stars Shane with "THE POGUES" were a breath of fresh air.
The post awards party continued on into the small wee hours of the morning.
The award is one which no one can argue with. Congats to all The Pogues.

Breakfast on Pluto Premiere
Bono, Cillian Murphy, Ralph Fiennes and Brendan Gleeson were some of the stars that were in attendance at the European premiere
of Neil Jordan's "Breakfast on Pluto" in Dublin.
"Breakfast on Pluto" was written by Shane's good friend "not a bad bastard anymore" Pat McCabe
Shane along with Stephen Rea and Ruth Negga also attended the event at the Savoy Cinema on Wednesday January 11th, which
raised 100,000 Euro for UNICEF.
